Mike Harvkey is the author of the novel, In the Course of Human Events (Soft Skull Press, 2014), a "pick of the week" by Los Angeles Magazine, The Millions, and Publishers Weekly.
Recently Mike handled research and reporting for the New York Times #1 bestelling true crime book, All-American Murder (Little, Brown, 2018), by James Patterson & Alex Abramovich, about convicted killer and New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez.
Mike has written for Esquire, Poets & Writers, Salon, The Believer, Alaska Quarterly Review, Nylon, The L, Trunk, Fiction Writers Review, Four & Sons, Publishers Weekly, and other publications. He is the recipient of fellowships from MacDowell and Columbia University's M.F.A. Program, and winner of short fiction awards from Zoetrope All-Story Magazine and Mississippi Review. Mike has taught Creative Writing at Columbia University and UC Davis.
He is currently at work on his second novel, Hysterical Men, and a collection of short stories.
